Mangaluru, May 29: A woman was buried in a landslip that occured at Udaynagar near KPT here on the evening of Tuesday May 29 as torrential rains lashed the city.

The woman has been identified as Mohini (61), wife of Krishnappa.

Even though fire personnel, locals and police put in their best efforts to rescue Mohini, she could not be saved.

Her body was retrieved from under the debris and was shifted to Wenlock hospital.

The incident occured at her brother's house, next to which is her own house. It is learnt that Mohini had visited her brother's house on Tuesday evening. Due to the heavy rains, there was a landslip and a huge pile of mud collapsed on the kitchen of the house, where Mohini was at the time of the incident.

The entire kitchen collapsed and Mohini got buried under the debris.

As soon as the incident occured, locals and fire personnel rushed to the spot and began rescue operations. Even as the rescue operations were on, more mud collapsed making the task difficult.

Former mayor Mahabala Maarla also arrived at the spot and led the rescue operations.

The house has no proper access road due to which JCB operators had difficulty in entering the premises.

Sad to hear the woman died.may her soul rest in peace.Heartfelt sympathy to the family and also very sorry to hear the landslip and harm.Natures fumes .Sometimes I dont understand people dont read comments properly.News says she dies, ,and still comments are she may be taken out safe. For such landslip is also people ,govt.has a part responsible. Many times houses are built simply where they can, without a proper margin or without taking proper steps to make background steady. They dig and dig build house ,finish.Later when heavy rains come ,it is fatal.Does panchayat or officials give their ok without seeing the site?poorones have to suffer later.

-Are we really in the 21st Century? Roads are narrow because of narrow minded people. Many houses in Mangalore do not have road access due to selfish people. Just have a look on some of the property owners of Mangalore, especially in Bejai Kadri Kambla road, Anegundi, etc. They own acres of land which is not maintained, yet they refuse to leave a few yards of land to have a decent road. Even rickshaws cannot enter these roads!! Old people are at the receiving end, I have seen in my own eyes, how they are to be carried till the main road as vehicles cannot enter!!
Forget smart city. First, let us have a decent road approach to every house of Mangalore.

Dakshin Kannada District need a strict Zoning Laws where every house should have a access for Ambulance. The access road should be wide enough to pass two vehicles. Government should purchase the land for the road with reasonable compensation to the land owners. Mangalore has multi-storied complexes built amidst of slums. Proper zoning law is a must for a developing cities.

Hope the disaster team will put all the resources together and try to pull Mohini out from the landslip safely.
Appreciate all the local people including fire service team, for rendering selfless service in saving the life. It is always the neighbours who will be the first person to help. So all, open your eyes and try to build good relationship with your neighbours and keep the divisive force far away.

This shows that if nature starts fuming and fretting human beings just cannot stand in front of it. Be kind, be helpful and lead a peaceful life. Do not fight in the name of religion, caste, creed, language and region.

Many years before when I learnt in school I believed 'Unity in Diversity'. Today I think the same diversity has become a bottle neck for our country.

It is shocking to see the level of hatred brewing in some people who connect even a disaster either to a political party or surprisingly even to Israel in this case !
    There is only one God.
Gods character can only be love and not hatred.
All violence, inspiration to hatred of any race , religion and people can come from only Satan.

I hope and pray the woman is safe and will be rescued.

I know many won't like what i say.

Today if this torment seen in karavali ,then its not MCC or any governance ,its we the people necessary,God had given us brains,we are smartest people yet during election time we acted like buffoons.

Time and again its revealed in major scriptures.

"We will send down the torments down to earth ,if the sane people start acting insane"
People of Moses (pbuh) disobeyed ,they got the torment as king pharoah and his torments.
People of Jesus (pbuh) betrayed they are getting every now and then palestinians.
Coastal region has supported corrupt people inspite of knowing they loot the nation this time .Now deal with this .

    May God protect the lady.

Only Israelis are spared currently ,because it is said Messiah(christ)will destroy them. And get Masjid Al aqsa back from them. They are kept to entertain the whole world for time being.Let them enjoy for now.
