Bantwal: MLA Rajesh Naik visits rain affected area, orders emergency help

Bantwal, May 31: Bantwal MLA U Rajesh Naik on Wednesday May 30 visited areas affected by rain here and ordered officials to provide emergency help on the spot. Walls of houses belonging to Vishwanath and Babu had collapsed. The MLA asked to prepare an estimate of the loss.

Rain water collected in the farm

A 4.50 acre areca nut farm at Marnabail, Sambaragudi, Munnooru is filled with water. Water has stagnated in 3.50 acre areca nut cultivation belonging to Sunitha Chandrashekar. Nearly more than 20 yielding areca nut saplings are uprooted. Water has also stagnated in a cultivation nearby.

As the wooden plank erected at six meter for supply of drinking water from Thumbe vented dam to Mangaluru is removed, water has entered the fields at Sambaragudi causing huge loss to areca nut cultivation. The loss has worried farmers. MLA U Rajesh Naik who obtained details from victim, Sunita Chandrashekar contacted taluk horticulture officials and asked them to prepare an estimate of the loss. He assured the affected farmers that he will speak to the deputy commissioner about non-payment of compensation for land submerged under water while water was released from the dam. The wall of Jumadi temple at Sanjiva Munnooru is completely damaged. The MLA asked concerned officials to prepare an estimate of the cost.



Election code of conduct that has bound hands

While Vidhan Sabha elections are over; there is election code of contact in connection with the elections of Vidhan Parishat teachers and graduates constituency. The hands of the elected representatives are tied. Though there are MLAs and other elected representatives, only officials can take a decision. Therefore, the MLA accompanied by the tahsildar and officials under him visited only a few places and conducted inspection. The MLA had to contact officials only over the phone and ask for action.

Taluk panchayat member Prabhaker Prabhu, BJP committee chief secretary Ramadas Bantwal, APMC member Purushotham Shetty, Ganesh Rai Mani, Ramanath Rai, Dinesh Umtoor, Narikombu panchayat president Yashodhar Karbettu, former taluk panchayat member Ananda Shambhooru, Purushotham Tailor, Pravin Gatty, Arvind Bhat, Ramesh Rao, Santhosh Gundimajalu and others were present.

More than Rs five lac loss

The wall of a house belonging to Sathish in Kukkanjebail, Manchi is partly damaged. The house wall of Rolfy Fernandes, Ammunje has caved in and water has entered the house. The boundary wall of Bhasker in Kadavekariya in B Mooda has collapsed, house compound at Pallamajalu, B Mooda grama is damaged, house of Vishwanath in Narikombu is damaged, house wall of Babu in Narikombu, house wall of Kalai Adam in Ammunje grama are damaged. House of Vasantha in Narikombu is damaged due to falling of uprooted tree, house of Dharnappa Poojary is damaged due to fallen tree, compound wall of Shaikh Abdulla Hanif is damaged, house compounds of Janardhan and Dayanand in Hosamaru are damaged, house compound of Razak in Nandarabettu is damaged, panchayat compound in Vitla Mudnoor is damaged, water from a ditch near Bhadrakali temple, Bejanapadavu has entered a house, house compound of Hemavati in Jarandagudde is damaged, compound in Arabanagudde collapsed, house compound of Umesh Poojary in Perlabail collapsed, damage to the compound at Kodihadya and Badagabellur are reported.
