Madikeri: Accident at Somwarpet claims life of auto driver

Madikeri, Jun 1: An auto rickshaw driver lost his life after the three-wheeleer he was driving collided head on with a Mahindra Bolero vehicle coming from opposite direction near Vivekananda Circle at Somwarpet in the district. The accident occurred at around 8 pm on Thursday May 31.

Ganesh (40) from Hosthota village was killed in this accident. The accident happened when Ganesh was returning to his village, Hosthota, after operating the auto rickshaw the whole day in the town. In the accident, the hands and legs of Ganesh were fractured and he also suffered severe head injuries.

Ganesh, who was seriously injured in the accident, was provided initial treatment in the government hospital here. He was being taken to the district hospital here for advanced treatment in view of his serious condition, when he breathed his last on the way.

Ganesh is survived by wife and three daughters. The Bolero vehicle which belongs to Chennakeshava from Kalkandoor, was confiscated by the police.
