Udupi: Theft of cash, gold ornaments, from unoccupied house at Mannapalla

Udupi, Jun 2: Thieves entered a house at Mannapalla in Manipal near here and took away cash and ornaments worth about Rs 8.5 lac.

Resident of the house in question, Dinesh B Shetty, had left for Europe tour along with family members on May 22. A person named Sachin Shetty was asked to keep a watch on the house during Dinesh's absence. Sachin came to know about the theft when he arrived at the said house on Friday June 1 morning, it is said.



The thieves had entered by breaking open the lock of the backside grill and door of the house. They forced open a steel locker inside a wardrobe and took away about Rs 2,50,000 in cash and gold ornaments worth around six lac rupees kept inside the locker.

A case about the theft was registered in Manipal police station.
