Sullia, Jun 5: In an incident which happened at Koyinadu in the taluk, a catastrophe in the making was averted and lives of many were saved on account of the presence of mind exhibited by the driver of a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus. All the 50 passengers in the bus and people in the other vehicle with which the bus would have collided, were saved as a result.

The KSRTC bus in question was bound for Bengaluru from Kukke Subrahmanya. When the bus was passing through Koyinadu, driver of the bus, Madan, realized that the petroleum tanker that was coming from the opposite direction on wrong side of the road was about to collide with the bus. He immediately turned the bus towards the roadside gorge. The bus came to a halt after hitting an electric pole. No one suffered any harm except that the bus was damaged a little.

Passengers in the bus were sent to Bengaluru by another bus. People have lauded Madan's efforts through social websites like twitter and WhatsApp.
