Moodbidri: 21-year-old killed in bike-lorry collision

Moodbidri, Jun 6: A youth died in a collision between his bike and a container lorry at Bodadangadi, Panamberi forest area, Nillikar here.

The deceased is identified as Akshath Bhat (21), a resident of Puttur. He was a student of Udupi Sanskrit School.

The incident took place at Nellikar-Karkal-Hosmar highway when he was on his way to Falimar math on the bike. While the Akshath was heading to Nellikar from Hosmar, the container lorry was proceeding to Hosmar from Nellikar.



The bike hit the container lorry at a dangerous curve at Bodadangadi. Akshath succumbed to his injuries while being rushed to the hospital by an ambulance. A case was registered at Moodbidri police station.

Several accidents have been occurring at the Nellikar curve and more than 25 people have lost their lives. Locals have urged concerned departments and elected representatives to take suitable action for the smooth flow of traffic in the area.
