Independiente part ways with Spanish coach Rescalvo

Bogota, Jun 7 (IANS): Colombian football club Deportivo Independiente Medellin has announced that it is parting ways with Spanish coach Ismael Rescalvo after the two sides reached a "mutual agreement".

The 36-year-old coach's twin brother, Juan Rescalvo, who worked as assistant coach for technical development, is also leaving, Independiente Medellin said in a brief statement on Wednesday, reports Efe.

The team, which hired the Rescalvo brothers in 2017, thanked the coaches for their work and wished them success in their future endeavours.

The Rescalvo brothers joined Independiente Medellin after a successful season with Colombian club Envigado.

Rescalvo led Independiente Medellin to the Colombian league's semi-finals, where the club lost last Sunday to Deportes Tolima.

Independiente Medellin was eliminated in the first round of the Copa Sudamericana, South America's secondary club football competition, by Paraguay's Sol de America.
