Bengaluru: Dy CM Parameshwara holds talks with senior police officers

Bengaluru, Jun 10: Deputy chief minister (DCM) Dr Parameshwara has held talks with the senior police officers of the state on the very next day of assuming the additional responsibility of home ministry and has instructed to take precautions to prevent the crime rate in the state.

Parameshwara, who held the discussion at Vidhana Soudha on Saturday, June 10 with senior police officers, including the chief secretary of the state and Director General of Police (DGP) of Karnataka state assured that the political interference will not be there in the home ministry. Police officers will be given free hand with regards to the implementation of law and order in the state.

Guiding the officers, DCM said, "Maintaining law and order and peace in the state is the first priority of the government. So watch should be kept on anti-social elements and people who disturb peace throughout the state including Bengaluru and the crime incidents in the state needs to be brought down."

Further meeting with police officers after June 16

Speaking to the press after the meeting with the police officials, Dr Parameshwara said, "This is the opening meeting. In the coming days, further meetings will be held to improve the law and order and the style of functioning of the police department. Accordingly, After June 16, section-wise meetings will be held with senior officers and discussions will be held to improve the department as a whole."

Instructions to arrest the assailants of Gauri and Kalburgi murders asap

Parameshwara has informed that strict instructions have been given to arrest the accused in the murders of journalist Gauri Lankesh and scholar cum rationalist M M Kalburgi. Giving the details, DCM said, " I have collected detailed information with regards to both the killings from the officers. Concerned officers have furnished details with regards to the progress of the investigation in both the cases. They have also assured to provide more information in the coming days. After scrutinizing all the information, I have instructed the officials to arrest the culprits."
