Bengaluru, Jun 19: Karnataka chief minister, H D Kumaraswamy, who has been camping at New Delhi, is learnt to have complained to All India Congress Committee president, Rahul Gandhi, about the habit of some Congress leaders in creating bottlenecks and poking their noses in the affairs of the government unnecessarily.
During his meeting with Rahul on Monday June 18 morning at his Tughlaq Margh residence at New Delhi, Kumaraswamy discussed with the latter about political developments in the state since the last some days, and also about new budget, cabinet expansion, and appointment of heads to corporations and boards in detail, sources said.
Sources also said that he expressed strong resentment at the efforts being made by certain Congress leaders who are issuing statements demanding presentation of supplementary budget instead of comprehensive budget. He is learnt to have told Rahul Gandhi in no uncertain terms that unwarranted interference makes it harder to provide efficient governance.
The CM reportedly told him that the coalition government was yet to take off due to an open rebellion by a section of legislators demanding cabinet berths, and that a majority of the ministers had still not begun doing their job. Kumaraswamy further said that senior leaders like M B Patil, H K Patil, Satish Jarkiholi and Dr Sudhakar were openly expressing dissent, and when he tried to pacify one of them, his intervention was not welcomed.
Kumaraswamy further argued with the Congress chief that presentation of development-oriented budget will help the coalition partners during Lok Sabha election and stated that some Congress leaders have not been approving his plans. He also said that at a time when the opposition parties have been criticizing the government for failing to take off, creating bottlenecks in its functioning by leaders of coalition partners will harm the government.
Rahul Gandhi, it is said, pointed out towards certain statements issued by JD(S) leader, Basavaraj Horatti, and felt that leaders of both the parties should exercise restraint before speaking in the public. He said Congress leaders would be suitably instructed, and asked Kumaraswmay to provide efficient administration.
