Udupi: Kasturba Hospital to organise free workshop on food hygiene practices on Jun 27

Udupi, Jun 26: Department of Nutrition & Dietetics Kasturba Hospital Manipal in association with department of Health and Family Welfare, Udupi, will organise a free workshop on healthy food safety and food hygiene practices for food handlers in Udupi district on June 27.

The workshop is being held from 2 pm to 5 pm to raise awareness on food safety practices and hygiene as a part of the implementation of Swasta Bharath Plan focussing on public health initiatives. Dignitaries including DHO-Udupi Dr Rohini, Dr Poornima Baliga pro VC-MAHE, Dr Avinash Shetty, medical superintendent and Hotel Association-Udupi officials would be the guests for the programme.

The departments of Cardiology, department of Nutrition & Dietetics of Kasturba Hospital, Manipal and the department of Cardiovascular Technology, SOAHS, MAHE, Manipal are taking part in the workshop as resource persons. The topics include food and kitchen sanitation and safety, quality and waste management, usage of different kinds of oils, to maintain healthy heart for the food handlers, and various diseases and its prevention.
