Yohannan Simon from Kerala wins 10 million dirhams in Abu Dhabi raffle

Abu Dhabi, Aug 3 (IANS): An Indian expat on Friday hit a jackpot by winning 10 million dirhams in a raffle draw at Abu Dhabi International Airport.

"This is great. Since this is for real I am very happy," said Vazhappallil Yohannan Simon, who first thought it to be a prank. He hails from Kerala.

There was one Syrian, Taisir Nasr Sabih, in the top 10 winners list, rest all were from India. Sabih won 70,000 dirhams, the Khaleej Times reported.

Separately, one Filipino expat Jayson Baloloy won the Land Rover Series 12.

Earlier this week, Indian national Sandeep Menon won $1 million in Dubai Duty Free raffle. Another Indian Santhi Bose won a BMW R Nine T Scrambler motorbike.

According to data from two of the biggest raffle draws in the United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi's Big Ticket raffle to Dubai Duty Free's Millionaire Draw), Indian nationals prove to be the most lucky.

    People ..
Well said about mangalorean and keralites …

But I have some views about both (mangalorean and keralites),
The keralites have unity everyone knew and they will help to get the jobs etc.. (i.e in gulf countries) but problem is with them they will pull your leg and they can go to any level to get the position in any kind of organisation….(this is what every-one hate them, and they are worst) ..

And about mangalorean .. yes they will not help but at least they will not pull your leg and they will not do nonsense things so that is the beauty of mangalorean….

Jobless peoples need assistance/help in finding job same like hungry humans want food. Pulling legs is later thing, atleast one can earn something for his family once he is in job. But what you mean to say is poor peoples dont eat its not a problem but rich must enjoy at full swing without any hurdle !!!! Sooo selfish thinking my friend.

Malayalees will most definitely help each other esp if they are successful irrespective of caste, creed or religion. Beef and Malayalam unites them.

Mangaloreans will first see jathi, religion, language spoken at home based on caste and also whether somebody is from mangalore city (superior) or from suburbs (villager)...

Did you help any Mangalorean, when they need your service, might be in finding jobs, might be supporting your own community. First who loves his community, always support his community.

Keralite whether they are Christian, Hindus, muslims, all speak Malyalam. All most all, of them eat , eat beef. Majority of Keralite irrespective religion drink wine/beer/alchohol. I have lived with them and I did not find any problem with them in the middle East.

Yes..!! Most of the keralites work/stay abroad, because they help their peoples to go & find jobs in abroad. But do our mangaloreans help each other ?? Answer might be "BIG ZERO".

You are absolutely right. I also went to Dubai without anybody's help but through some ads. where I was interviewed and got a job. I did not pay a dime for any services. I worked for several years in the 1975-81 and migrated to New York. Now I am happily retired after working for a government job in a hospital and so is my wife. God is great.

People from tulunadu are highly selfish in nature. The malyalis work as a team although they they may not be talented. They support each other. Whereas mangaloreans are jealousy that the other person may come up in life. The malyalis made malyali state. What the hell have the tuluvas made. We have become slaves under kannaders. We tuluvas never have unity and we work for individual glory. What have achieved as a group?

FOR PEOPLE LIKE OUR LATE PRESIDENT ABDUL KALAM OR PRESENT PRIME MINISTER NARENDRABHAI MODIJI NEVER EVER COME TO THERE MIND VALUE OF MONEY. IF YOU POUR MILLION OF RUPEES IN FRONT OF THEM WILL IGNORE IT. MONEY IS JUST AN PIECE OF PAPER TO DO TRANSACTIONS AND NOTHING ELSE. BE COMFORTABLE WITH WHAT GOD PROVIDED TO US.

Had they had to take care of wife/children they would have known the importance of money. By the way, agree late Dr Kalam lived a simple life. But Feku lives like a king on tax payer's money and no amount of lottery money can buy that kind of life.
