Eng vs Ind, 3rd Test: Virat Kohli, Rahane guide visitors to 307-6 on Day 1

Nottingham, Aug 19(DC): After being put to bat by England in the third Test, it was a day to remember for India as they finished with 307-6 on board at the end of stumps at Trent Bridge.

A fifty partnership between Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul set the tone before Chris Woakes gave England the upper hand with a flurry of three wickets before tea, including Cheteshwar Pujara.

Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane then put up a crucial 150-run stand to turn the game on its head but Stuart Broad and Adil Rashid got the breakthroughs to deny both the set batsmen a century.

Hardik Pandya along with debutant Rishabh Pant later on soaked the pressure before James Anderson bounced back in the final ball of the day to pick up his first wicket.

Day 2 holds an exciting challenge and the visitors will aim to finish on a high to keep the series alive.
