Bengaluru, Sep 13: Deputy chief minister (DCM) and home minister Dr G Parameshwar warned that the respective zonal deputy commissioner of police (DCP) and assistant commissioner of police (ACP) will be held directly responsible for any untoward incidents that may take place during Gowri, Ganesha and Moharram festivals.
He was speaking after partaking in the progress verification meeting of ACPs and higher authorities of the police department under the limits of Bengaluru city police commissionerate on Wednesday, September 12.
"All preparations are undertaken by the police department in order to maintain law and order during the Ganesha festival. No untoward incidents should occur from the time of installation of the Ganesha idol until the immersion of the same. I have instructed the police to depute additional police personnel and take precautionary measures during the installation fo the Ganapathi idol," said Dr G Parameshwar.
Foreigners overstaying illegally to be deported
DCM Parameshwar said, "I have ordered the police department to search for the foreigners who are overstaying their visa in the state as well as those who are involved in illegal activities. So far 107 people are identified and discussions are held with the central government to deport them."
Action for increasing the salary of police personnel
"A committee under the leadership of senior police officer Raghavendra Auradkar was formed to look into pay revision of police personnel. This committee has already submitted a report to the government after collecting the data of salary of police personnel of neighbouring states. Based on this report, a recommendation is already sent to the sixth pay commission with regards to the pay revision. If the pay commission gives the nod, then the salary of a police constable will be equivalent to that of a revenue inspector. At present every constable is given a special allowance of Rs 2500," said Parameshwar, giving details of the salary revision of police personnel.
