Kolar, Sep 16: In a move that is sure to sound warning bells for the rapists, the second additional and sessions court here, on Saturday September 15, awarded death sentences to five of the rape-accused.
Suresh Babu, who had tried to rape a 15-year-old girl at Malur in the district on August 1 this year and killed her, and Munikrishna, Krishnamurthy, Narayanaswamy and Anil Kumar, who were accused of gang-raping an SSLC student at Kuppoor in the year 2014, have convicted for the crime and given death sentences.
The court has, in tune with the recent law for faster trial in rape cases, completed hearing and announced judgement within 45 days of the crime in the first case mentioned above.
