Mangaluru: Tulunada Rakshana Vedike honours martial arts gold medallist Vikith Manjunath

Mangaluru, Sep 18: Tulunada Rakshana Vedike honoured martial arts gold medallist Vikith Manjunath at its central office, on Monday, September 17.

Yogish Shetty Jeppu, founder president, Tulunadu Rakshana Vedike, welcomed the dignitaries and gathering and said, "It is our duty to honour a personality who has raise the Indian flag on international level. Vikith Manjunath is a kind of achiever who reached the heights of fame through his hard work and dedication. He represents India in various forms of martial arts. He won gold and bronze medals for India in the championships held at Hong Kong and Candy, Sri Lanka. We are proud to say that he is the son of Tulunadu. He is an inspiration for generations to come.”



Saleem, managing director, Star Educational Academy, said, “Vikith started his journey with certain limitations. He struggled to get proper training because of poor financial condition. But he never gave up. He had a dream and ambition. He worked hard and in 2017, he won a gold medal for India. His challenging mentality made him a successful martial arts athlete. He has bagged many titles in Karate.”

Thanking for the felicitation, Vikith said, “I was very poor in studies. I was never interested in studying. I had fixed Karate in my mind. Because of poor financial
condition, after my education, I was compelled to go for work. I faced difficulties in my training. But I never stopped training. I went to Dubai for better earning.

There also I continued my practice and got selected to represent India in Hong Kong championship. I won a gold medal there and I participated in another championship held at Sri Lanka. There I secured a bronze medal. Besides, I got opportunity to participate in many national and international level championships. Today, I feel happy because I am honoured by Tulunada Rakshana Vedike. It is an organisation which is working for our culture and language. I am thankful to all those who are behind this.”

Shantharaam, inspector, CCB and other office bearers of Tulunadu Rakshana Vedike were present.
