Bengaluru, Sep 18: Relating to veteran journalist, Gauri Lankesh murder, the special investigation team (SIT) here has arrested Srikant Pangarkar, a former Shiv Sena corporator from Mumbai.
The SIT has accused Pangarkar of extending financial assistance to the killers of Gauri and providing them with arms. He has been brought to the city on the basis of body warrant for further questioning. On being produced in the sessions court here on Monday September 17, Pangarkar was remanded to the custody of SIT for 12 days.

A few days back, SIT had arrested Sudhanwa Gondelkar from Maharashtra in this case. Sources said that the current arrest was made on the basis of information provided by Sudhanwa. Srikant from Jalna, Mumbai, was elected twice as corporator of Shiva Sena party between 2001 and 2011. He has strong views about Hinduism, righteousness, customs, traditions etc, it is said. SIT it is said that it also believes that he was involved with the murders of Govind Pansare and Narendra Dhabolkar.
All the 13 accused arrested in this case are in judicial custody.
