Karkala, Sep 19: In connection with the incident in which Girija Poojary (50) from Posral Bommayya Lachchil in Sacheripet in the taluk died after coming in contacted with cables connected to power supply, the police from the rural station here, on Tuesday September 17, took three persons into custody. These three accused are facing the charge of diverting electricity to these cables with the aim of trapping and hunting wild boars.

The arrested accused are Sunil (30) from Mundkur, John (57) from Kadandale, and Padmanabha Salian (42) from Sacheripet. The police have also confiscated a car used by the trio.

The police have got information that immediately after Girija stepped on the cable on September 8 and got electrocuted, the accused tried to mislead the case by shifting her body elsewhere. They reportedly took the body to Kadandale from Sacheripet where the body was found, and tossed it into a well located in the backside of John's residence. After two days, they again fished out this body from the well, took it to Parappady thicket in Kanthavara, which is always deserted, and threw the body wrapped in tarpaulin there. The police got this information during their questioning.

The trio was taken into custody on March 17 and subjected to interrogation. The police have suspicion about the involvement of two more persons in this crime, and are searching for them, it is learnt. Rural policy station sub-inspector, Nassir Hussain, said that the three accused would be produced in the court on Wednesday September 19.
