Dammam Sep 20: After the historical success of Gulf Voice of Mangalore 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016 semifinals, Aangann Konknnechem is excited and honoured to host Konkani reality show Gulf Voice of Mangalore – Season 6 yet again. The audition round was successfully held in Dammam and six male and six female voices were selected. The semi-final round will be on September 21 at Dammam to select ‘Voice of Arabia 2018’. The judges are ‘Ye Ye Katrina’ fame Sangeeth Samrat Henry D’Souza from Mumbai, Golden Voice Dream Boy Rony D’Cunha from Kuwait and compere Ronald Olivera from Dubai.
Stars like Johnson Avith Crasta, Johnson Rovan Lobo, Lavina Crasta, Manisha Priyanka D’Souza, Naveen Lewis, Ninatte Quadros, Ralph Paul D’Souza, Richard Cardin, Shallet D’Silva, Sharol Lewis, Sony Laetitia D’Souza and Valerian Nelson Moras will be part of the event.

Judges
Henry D’Souza
Sangeeth Samrat Henry D’Souza is a composer, lyricist, music director and HMV, All India Radio, TV, Stage singer. He has composed more than 2,000 songs, held more than 200 shows in India, Gulf, and Canada. Henry has bagged numerous Life Time Achievement Awards and a Global Music Award. Being an internationally acclaimed singer, his song ‘Ye Ye Katrina’ has been translated in seven languages including Spanish, Portuguese, Sinhalese, English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. His compositions are sung by Hemant Kumar and Usha Uthup. Henry Nite was held in Canada in 2009 and ‘Two Legends - Live with Lorna’ in 2014.
Rony D’Cunha
Rony came from a music loving family. His father, grand-mother, uncles and aunts sang ‘Manddo’ and other contemporary Konkani songs when they met together for a feast or a wedding. Those family get-togethers with joyful songs and melodious music had a lasting effect on young Rony and he used to eagerly look forward to join and enjoy with them.
Ronald D’Cunha fondly known as ‘Konkani’s Dream Boy’, is a well-known singer and music enthusiast. He hails from Derebail, is based Kuwait and resides with his wife Jasmine and a lovely son Jeswin.
Rony is actively involved with Eric Ozario and Mandd Sobhann. He had the unique opportunity to sing for more than 75 of his shows all over India and the Gulf Countries. Rony’s association with Wilfy Rebimbus continued for nione years singing in more than 40 of his shows and 12 albums, all over India and abroad.
Rony has sung for all major Konkani composers both devotional and light music with Wilfy Rebimbus, Eric Ozario, Henry D’Souza, Lawrence Saldanha, Melwyn Peris, Claud D’Souza, Gratian D’Souza, late P H Pinto, late Mick-Max, Mike Simon, Patrao Bros and Wilson Olivera to name the few.
Rony has participated in more than 175 musical shows. He has sung for more than 75 albums, and been a play back singer for the Konkani movie ‘Bhogsanne’. He has also produced an album ‘Amcho Manddo’, a remix of old traditional songs. He also participated in Konkani Niranthari (Guinness Record Event) - in the month of January 2008 as a representative from Kuwait.
He received the Best Singer Award from Mandd Sobhann in 1999. He has won many awards of appreciation by Tulu Koota, Kuwait Canara Welfare Association; Karavali Konkans Association, Bahrain at ‘Dabazo’ in 2006.
Rony’s future plan is to train budding singers in the technicalities involved in singing especially in Konkani language singing. His message to his admirers is that everybody is endowed with some talents, discover it, develop it, grow it and reach out to the lives of other people.
Compere
Ronald Olivera
Ronald Olivera is a well-known master of ceremony with complete command and fluency in English, Konkani, Hindi, Kannada and Tulu. He has not only compered shows for most of the Konkani singers/artistes (Wilfy Rebimbus, Henry D’Souza, Melwyn Peris, Wilson Olivera, Claud D’Souza, Mick Max, Maxim Pereira, Lancy Moras, Esther Noronha and Goan Nightingale Lorna), but also performed in the shows of many Indian artistes such as Kottayam Nazir, Mohammad Aslam, Nadarsha, S.Janaki, and many others.
Time and again, he has proven that he could handle the mega events with utmost ease and to the entire satisfaction of the audience from all walks of life. A hit programme ‘Raymond the Complete Man’ Personality Pageant in Bahrain in 2001 spoke volumes of his capability as a compere. Ronald Olivera is a member of Toastmasters International, a worldwide organization that fosters public speaking and leadership qualities. Ronald Olivera has won numerous awards in international and Gulf-level speech competitions. He has the recognition of being the only toastmaster in the Gulf to win three international awards in International Taped Speech contests.
He is also the only toastmaster to win four, first places in four consecutive years in Gulf-level competitions. He also has to his credit of winning three awards in one single Gulf Toastmasters annual convention held in Muscat, Oman in 2002. He is also a renowned Konkani writer, with more than 100 short stories and above 150 articles already published in various Konkani magazines.
Musicians
Dr Ivor D’Souza
A dentist by profession, Dr Ivor has been working at Bella Medical Centre, Al Khafji since last 3 years. A musician by passion, he is playing the keyboard for the last ten years. He has played for many popular bands in Mangaluru like Angels, Wonders and Waves.
Dr Rupak Kumar Das
Dr Rupak did his MBBS from the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune in 1988. He is a Fellow of the Royal colleges of surgeons (FRCS) of Glasgow and Edinburg in 1995, and consultant in general surgery and medical director of the Al Khafji joint operations hospital, Al Khafji. He is a guitarist, music composer and arranger, song writer and studio mixer and played in several bands nationally and internationally. He was a part of the Colours TV series ‘Idea Rocks India’ in 2010 as guitarist of the band ‘Sixth Sense’.
Aangann Konknnechem (AKR) is a non profitable organization involved in promoting Konkani culture and language through various programs in Riyadh and Dammam. They have also conducted several programmes to help youth to promote their talent since its inception in 2007. Besides, they are involved with several charitable institutions in Mangaluru.
