Udupi: Gopal Shetty's poetic drama ‘Devayani-Sharmishte’ released

Udupi, Sep 24: Badagubettu Credit Cooperative Society, Udupi organised book releasing function of second revised edition of poetic drama ‘Devayani-Sharmishte’ of Gopal B Shetty, at Nutan Ravindra Mantapa MGM College here on Sunday, September 23.

Dr B Shantharam Shetty, advocate of Udupi released the book and said, “The play reflects about many phases of life through characters in the play. The circumstance of the poetry revolves around a woman who feels jealous about another woman. There are dialogues between each other. It will get more richness when the story displayed through dance or drama on stage.” He wished many more books to come out in the coming days.

Dr H Shantharam of Manipal Academy Education Institutions, appreciating the work of Gopal Shetty said, “Gopal was a rationalist and always too lead in the issue of communalism. The characters of the play show many differences and emotions of life. Each role gives message to the reader.”

Rama Shetty, wife of Gopal Shetty, thanked to all support and conveyed wishes on behalf of poet Gopal.

Poetess Purnima Suresh briefed the audience about the book.

Jayakar Shetty Indrali, general manager of Badagubettu Credit Cooperative Society, Udupi, extended the welcome.

Badagubettu Credit Cooperative Society Udupi organised the event as part of its centennial year’s celebration.

A group also sung the dialogues of Kavya nataka ‘Devayani-Sharmishte’.

Writer Madhava Udyavara, M G Vijay Principal of MGM and others were present.
