Bengaluru, Sep 24: Congress party, which is reeling under a financial crunch, is going to hold a campaign to collect funds from the general public.
In order to strengthen party nationwide, Congress aims to register one crore booth level coordinators and to collect the donations for the party from the people. KPCC is instructed to collect money from every house. Out of the funds that will be collected, 50% will got to AICC, 25% to KPCC, 15% to DCC and 10% to BCC.
It is also decided to hold 'Loka Samparka' and fund collection campaign as a yearly activity in the months of January and February. Due to the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, it is decided to hold this campaign this year from October 2, the day of Gandhi Jayanti to November 19, the birthday of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
Apart from the state of Punjab and union territory of Pondicherry, where the Congress is ruling, it has a coalition government in the state of Karnataka. So the party has decided to gather the resources for activities like organization of the party at the national level, campaigning of the party and other activities from the public itself.
State in-charge K C Venugopal informed about this campaign in the meeting that was held on Sunday, September 23 in the city in which office bearers of KPCC, presidents of district Congress committees (DCC), presidents of state front unit, cell and departments participated.
Guidelines for campaign
The leaflet and booklet given by AICC and KPCC have to be distributed to each house and the members of the house have to be convinced of the achievements of the party governments. Voters in the age group of 15 to 21 have to be made members on a priority basis. One crore booth coordinators have to be registered. Funds need to be collected from each house. These are the guidelines that are given about the campaign.
Aim to register one crore booth coordinators
The party has given the aim of registering a minimum of one crore coordinators. In every booth a 'booth coordinator' group of 10 to 15 members have to be nominated. These coordinators have to visit 20 to 25 houses under the booth limit and collect funds. For every 100 booth coordinators, one area booth coordinator has to be nominated. Collection of funds has to be implemented at the booth level. The details of the progress of campaign implementation will be sought directly by the AICC in-charge chief secretary.
By the end of September, nomination will be done for all the vacant posts of block and district presidents and KPCC members. A list of president, office bearers and executive committees from KPCC to block Congress committee (BCC), has to be submitted to the AICC before September 25. Instruction is also given to recheck the list of district and block committees, that was submitted during the last elections and to make amendments if any.
