Dammam, Sep 24: The semi-final round of the Gulf Voice of Mangalore (GVOM) Season 6 was a total package of fun and frolic with entertainment at its peak. In a stiff competition, Ralph Paul D’Souza and Shalet D’Silva were aptly declared the ‘Voice of Arabia 2018’. They were crowned and honoured by the main sponsors, Kevin and Muriel Nazareth. Ralph and Shalet will be up against the other finalists of rest of the Gulf countries in the finals on the November 9 in Kuwait.
Ralph won the hearts of judges and applause of the audience with his song ‘Tuja Fondar’ by Lancy Henry Moras, while Shalet hit the rite note with her selection of ‘Naripann’ by late Mick Max. The first runner-up in the female category was Manisha Priyanka D’Souza and second runner-up was Sony Laetitia Menezes. In the male category, Valerian Nelson Moras and Johnson Rovan Lobo were first and second runners- up respectively.
The charming and enthusiastic cultural secretary of ‘Aangann Konknnechem’, Sarita D’Souza welcomed the audience and introduced the anchor of the event, the professional public speaker of international fame Ronald Olivera who had flown all the way from Dubai for the event. Ronald Olivera meticulously compered the entire event and added much allure to it with his lurid and immaculate style which was highly acclaimed by one and all present. He commended the dauntless work and achievements of ‘Aangann Konknnechem’ under the able and diligent leadership of the Gurkar, Arun D'Souza Palimar and invited him and the participants to the stage in the midst of thunderous round of applause and cheers of jam-packed audience. Gurkar Arun D’Souza, main sponsors Kevin and Muriel Nazareth, co-sponsors Vincent and Blanch Sequeira, Naveen and Sunitha Fernandes and Richard Rodrigues lighted the lamp.
The programme began with a prayer song by Alwisha Sweedal Tauro, Steffi Lewis, Ashlyn D’Silva, Rachel D’Souza, and Reemal D’Souza with Ashton D’Silva on the keyboard. The gurkar of ‘Aangann Konknnechem’ Arun D’Souza, formally welcomed the audience. The compere Ronald Olivera introduced the judges, ‘Ye Ye Katrina’ fame ‘Sangeeth Saamrat’ Henry D’Souza from Mumbai and ‘Golden Voice Dream Boy’ Rony D’Cunha from Kuwait.
As the semifinal contest began, the audience was glued to the chair as the participants made their unique marks with the choice of their songs and splendid voice. Ronald Olivera, known for his irreplaceable and inimitable style left the audience astonished and amazed with his spot jokes and comedy.
The female contestants Laveena Crasta, Shalet D’Silva, Sony Laetitia Menezes, Sharal Lewis, and Manisha Priyanka D’Souza and the six male contestants Valerian Nelson Moras, Naveen Lewis, Johnson Rovan Lobo, Ralph Paul D’Souza, Johnson Avith Crasta and Richard Cardin, not only contested among themselves, but also set the tone for the entertainment programme which was eagerly awaited by the audience.
The gifted judges did absolute justice to their roles with their genuine praise and valuable suggestions to the participants. They also proved why they are considered to be the icons of entertainment in Konkani as they took the main stage to amuse the audience. While ‘Sangeeth Samrat’ Henry D’Souza was admired, applauded and praised by one and all for his energy and enthusiasm, the ‘Dream Boy’ Rony D’Cunha was at his usual best and left the audience longing for more. The 2nd runner up of Gulf Voice of Mangalore (Season 4) and the eastern province of Saudi Arabia champion of ‘Sur Aur Taal’ Pramila Rodrigues and teenage sensation, ‘Pride of Arabia’ fame Venessa Saldanha joined the ace entertainers Henry D’Souza and Rony D’Cunha to add splendor and glamour to the show. Dr Ivor D’Souza with the live music was assisted by ‘Idea Rocks India’ fame Dr Rupak Kumar Das.
The local talented budding artistes who added spice to the event with their vivid dances were Arabian Rock Stars of Jubail Shreya Sreekumar, Aleena afsal, Pavithra satheesh, Namitha radhakrishna, Devananda PS, Rahel V Saleem and Meenakshi Jayan with Bollywood fusion and Shreya Sreekumar, Pranathi S Kotian, Bhavadharini Shankar, Prashastha and Devishri with Bollywood retro. Both the dances were choreographed by one and only artistic and endowed Sawjanya Sreekumar.
While the scintillating dance performed by Stavina D’Souza, Hazel Rordigues, Annora D’Souza, Elena D’Souza, Riona Lobo and Shawna D’Souza earned praises by one and all, the dance choreographed by Jenessa D’Souza and performed by Jinelle D’Souza, Lesha Lasrado and Jenessa D’Souza was mesmerizing and captivating to the core.
The dance performance of the Nazareth brothers Karan Raj and Kiran Raj was the icing on the cake which earned applause and praise for their innovation and talent.
Sarita D’Souza thanked all the sponsors and Arun D'Souza honored and felicitated them with floral bouquets. The judges were felicitated with shawls and mementos by main sponsors Kevin and Muriel Nazareth. Contestants were felicitated with certificates, bouquet and mementos by the co-sponsors, Vincent and Banch Sequeira and Naveen and Sunitha Fernandes. Ronald Olivera was felicitated with a floral bouquet and memento by Arun D’Souza.
The entire felicitation programme was conducted by Raymond Francis in his distinct style.
The cultural secretary of ‘Aangann Konknnechem’, Sarita D’Souza rendered the vote of thanks. The programme came to an end with the announcement of the winners of the ‘Voice of Arabia’ contest. While everyone in the auditorium waited with bated breath for the results, the announcement itself was splendid and glorious, not just because of the earsplitting ovation that followed it, but also because of the expression of triumph as well as intense emotion that it brought upon the faces of the winners. It was indeed an evening to cherish for a very long time.

It was lauded and extolled as one of the best ever entertainment in the Konkani history of Saudi Arabia because of the quality, variety and professional flair. The brilliant, splendid and humorous touch given by the compere Ronald Olivera added more glare and glimmer to the glamour. The lively and supportive audience was finally dispersed to the dining area where sumptuous dinner was served.
