Puttur, Sep 27: The criminal investigation department (CID) team which probed the Shyam Shastri suicide case, filed its final charge sheet relating to the case on Wednesday September 26. The charge sheet names Sri Raghaveshwara Bharatiteertha Swamiji and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leader, as well as Bonantaya Shivashankar Bhat, who was the zonal president of Putttur Havyaka Sangha.

The team had undertaken investigation on September 9, 2014. It conducted investigation in various ways and prepared its final charge sheet. It has zeroed in on Kalladka Dr Prabhakar Bhat, Sri Raghaveshwara Bharatiteertha Swamiji and Bonantaya Shivashankar Bhat as the people who abetted the above suicide. It filed its report in the chief senior magistrate court on Wednesday Septembe 26.

Shyam Shastri  had turned his gun at himself and committed suicide at his home at Badekkila, Kedila village in Bantwal taluk on August 31, 2014. Shastri's wife, Sandhayalaxmi, had filed complaint in the town station, Bantwal. She had said that Shyam Shastri ended his life because of fear arising out of psychological pressure brought on him by Ramachandrapur Math representatives.

After registration of case, a team led by the then police inspector, Manjayya, had taken up investigation. On September 9, the officials issued orders transferring the investigation to CID.
