Dharwad, Oct 8: A youth reportedly barged into the campus of a prestigious college in Hubballi, threatened the students by pointing a gun at them, and vandalized the campus. The young man happens to be the son of an RTC activist, and no official complaint was lodged with the police, it is learnt.
Sources say that the youth, who was not a student of this college, frequented the college campus. On October 4, he had some misunderstanding with the students over a fashion show organized at the college and angry words were exchanged. The college students had sent him out after hitting him, it is said.
Angered by this development, the man returned to the college campus the next day, and turned his gun towards the students seated inside the canteen. Reportedly he vandalized the place and assaulted the students. His actions were recorded by the CCTV cameras at the canteen.
Hubballi-Dharwad police commissioner, M S Nagaraj, said that he came to know about the incident through the media and that no case was registered about this incident so far. He said he has instructed the inspector of Vidyanagar police station to investigate the issue and to organize peace meeting if some disturbance had happened.
