Mangalore, Nov 8:  The residents of Nagori on national highway 48 within the city limits were in for a gruesome scene at around 11 pm on Friday November 7. Tipper carrying sand rammed into a Maruti car, crushed it under its weight and dragged the car along the road for about 15 metres before coming to a halt. Rumours spread immediately, that four to five occupants of the car had died in the accident. To everyone's relief however, only one among the five occupants of the car was critically injured, while the other four escaped with minor injuries. The man with grievous injuries was admitted to a private hospital in the city immediately.

The tipper with a load of sand was moving towards B C Road when the accident occurred.  The way the heavy tipper pulverized the car, dragged it along and got ensconced atop the car, gave the impression that there was no chance of any survivors. People started rushing towards the accident site as various stories spread like wildfire immediately after the accident.

Kankanady police have registered a case.
