Mangaluru, Nov 1: A significant day for the people of Karnataka ‘Kannada Rajyotsava’ was celebrated on Thursday November 1 at St Aloysius Industrial Training Institute (ITI).
Vincent Mendonsa, principal of the institution extended a cordial welcome to all. Vikram, a student delivered a speech on significance of the celebration.
Chief guest of the celebration, Fr Dr Leo D’Souza, a renowned scientist and former director of the institution hoisted the flag. Addressing the gathering he said, “It is a very proud day for Kannada speaking people. It is a day which celebrates the union of all Kannada speaking regions under one state. Karnataka has given great people to the nation. Our own Bengaluru is known worldwide as an IT hub. The celebration of this should not be confined for one day. Instead it should be lived everyday with the spirit of unity. Karnataka is a house for people of many languages and religions. We should respect every human being irrespective of caste, religion or language.”
Afsan, a student proposed vote of thanks. Alwyn Menezes, vice-principal and Roshan D’Souza, training officer were present on the occasion. Darshan, a student of Electrician trade compered the programme.
