Koepka recaptures No. 1 spot in World Golf Ranking, continues battle with Rose

Madrid, Nov 26 (IANS): Brooks Koepka of the United States recaptured the No. 1 spot in the World Golf Ranking, released Monday, knocking Justin Rose of England back down to second.

The two golfers have been going back and forth at the top of the ranking for the past month, with Rose having only just reclaimed the lead in last week's ranking, reports Efe.

The battle kicked off when Rose regained the World No. 1 spot after successfully defending his Turkish Airlines Open title on November 4.

The majority of Monday's top 10 remained unchanged, except for US golfer Rickie Fowler's move up to ninth, trading places with England's Tommy Fleetwood, now in 10th.

Further down the rankings, US golfer Charles Howell III jumped three places to world No. 58 after winning the RSM Classic, ending a 11-year winless drought.

The current golf rankings and points are as follows:

1. Brooks Koepka (USA) 10.12 average points

2. Justin Rose (England) 9.91

3. Dustin Johnson (USA) 9.00

4. Justin Thomas (USA) 8.79

5. Bryson DeChambeau (USA) 7.24

6. Francesco Molinari (Italy) 6.50

7. Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) 6.49

8. Jon Rahm (Spain) 6.27
