Gautam Gambhir announces retirement from all forms of cricket

New Delhi, Dec 4 (IT): Gautam Gambhir has announced his retirement from all of cricket. Gambhir, who played a key role in helping India win the World T20 in 2007 and the 2011 World Cup, made the announcement on Twitter.

"The most difficult decisions are often taken with the heaviest of hearts. And with one heavy heart, I've decided to make an announcement that I've dreaded all my life," Gambhir tweeted.

Gambhir played 58 Tests, 147 ODIs and 37 T20Is for India since making his international debut in 2003 in Dhaka.

The Ranji Trophy game between Delhi and Andhra Pradesh starting Thursday at the Feroz Shah Kotla will be Gambhir's last match of his glorious career.

Gambhir had a successful career in the Indian Premier League. He led Kolkata Knight Riders to glory in 2012 and 2014 and is only one the three captains to win the IPL title two times.

He is also the second most successful captain in the history of the league with 71 wins in 129 matches.

Gambhir played 154 matches over 11 season of the IPL and scored 4218 runs. Gambhir also jointly holds the record for most half-centuries the cash-rich T20 league.

This cricketer Gautam Gambhir has lost his respect after joining politics and lost his credibility what he has gained.
His bad taste trolling in social media like Virender Sehwag will make them history despite their good show for the nation.
In today's India, there is a more indispensable amount of young cricketer emerging who are better than him and most promising.
He should at least learn the experience of Cricketer like Kirti Azad who has served BJP for long-term and now being sidelined for exposing the corruption of Union Minister Jaitley in Delhi Cricket Board.
The game should be treated as the game. Mixing politics with the game is a disaster.

Sir, I think you have not understood the last line I wrote. I am neither admirer of Cricketer Azharuddin nor Gambhir.
My point is his bad taste of language since he has joined BJP for politics.
Dangerous path Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Virat Kohli has chosen to tread on will never accord him greatness enjoyed by likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar.
The Game should be viewed on talent, not by caste, creed or religion.
Gautam Gambhir should have chosen NGO serving India rather than trolling inciting religion.

Some people are born haters like Nash,Mangalore. They never feel comfortable to listen a word against wrong dowers whom they love most nor they hesitate to spew venom against particular community for anything they encounter. Identity matters them.
