Murder of village account by illegal sand traffickers - driver held

Raichur, Dec 24: In connection with the murder of a village accountant, Saheb Patel, on the evening of Saturday near Cheekalaparvi Cross in Manvi taluk in the district by illegal sand traffickers, Manvi police have arrested driver of the tipper, Rangppa. The illegal sand traders allegedly caused killing of the village accountant by
driving a tipper truck over him.

The police have registered murder case against Rangappa under section 302 of Indian Penal Code. Rangappa is being being subjected to intensive questioning.

District superintendent of police, D Kishore Babu, inspected the spot of death. The police however did not reveal the names of the tipper owner or people involved with illegal sand trade.

Condemning the incident, leaders and activists of different organizations took to streets at Manvi on Sunday. They accused some influential politicians and other leaders from the district of providing protection to illegal sand business. They demanded steps to be taken against these people too, and burnt tyres to register their
anger.

President of Vilage Accountants Association, Hanumesh, said that all the members of the association would be availing a day's casual leave en masse on December 24 to condemn the incident.

The deceased Saheb Patel was a native of Chittapur village in Lingasugur taluk. When his moral remains were brought to the village late night on Sunday, the villagers expressed deep anguish at this development. The villagers joined together, got a memorandum signed by all the villagers, and handed over the same to officials who visited the village. Through the memorandum, the villagers have demanded to put an end to illegal sand trade.

District superintendent of police, D Kishore Babu, said that the driver has been arrested and murder case has been filed. As the investigation has begun just now, he said no information can be revealed now. He said that the details of the details about the owner of the killer vehicle were unclear. He said that added precautions
have been taken against illegal sand business in the district.

    How sad .Illegal business and even murder when opposed or calling police is the result.They forget that killing will not solve but make more trouble.what did they achieve now?may his soul rest in peace.
