Udupi, Dec 24: 'Sneha Sammilana of Alumnus-2018' a get-together of old students of Nittur Higher Primary School was held at the school campus here on Sunday December 23. The programme was organised by the old students committee.

Udupi MLA Raghupati Bhat speaking on the occasion said, "The memory of the primary school will never be erased. If old students get connected with each other, the development of the School becomes easy. Most of the old students may be working in far off places or abroad. We can connect with them on social media like Facebook, what's App. Once they come to the mainstream, they will never forget the school again."

Bhat was an old student of Nittur school. He further said, "There is no shortage of funds in Kannada medium school, but children are less. The administration board of the school should bring children to the school. The number of students must be increased, but sustaining Kannada medium school is difficult. The management should come to a firm decision as to whether it should continue as the same medium or convert to English medium. A positive decision must be taken. There is an emotional bond between family and school. A master plan must be done and on then we can take the next step.

"The process of registering old students should be aggressive. Let it operate on social media. Nittur High School has created many leaders. Do not let it down."

Another retired teacher Gopal Poojary said, "Nittur School was established in the pre-independence era. Today, Kannada medium schools are losing existence due to lack of children which is very disappointing. The government of Karnataka should save kannada medium schools. The school and the government must work in this regard aggressively.
