Mangaluru, Dec 28: As part of Christmas celebration, an intercommunity gathering and cultural programme 'Bandhuthva Christmas' was celebrated at Our Lady of Remedies Church, Kirem on December 25. Fr Victor D’mello, Parish Priest, Kirem Church, presided over the stage programme.

Prof Jagadesh Holla, principal Pompei College Aikala, T H Mayyadi, Kinnigoli panchayat member, and Dr Clarence Miranda, retired principal, Pompei College Aikala, attended as chief guests. Fr Jayaprakash D’Souza, Fr Mervin Norhona SVD and Sr Christella BS were also present.

All the leaders of the different communities conveyed the message of peace and stressed on communal harmony and humanity.

A tableau by the parishioners depicting the birth of Jesus Christ, that is annunciation, birth, visit of shepherds, Magi and the massacre of infants by Herod were staged, also the present situation of the world and the need to accept the message of Jesus was stressed, Santa Claus and a few other dances by the little ones like ‘save the nature’ were also presented.

Burton Sequeira, vice president of the parish council welcomed the dignitaries and guests. Anita D’Souza, secretary of the parish council, delivered the vote of thanks.
