Mangalore, Jan 14: A student riding pillion in a two-wheeler was killed after a lorry knocked her down at Chandramandala Mennabettu in Mulky police station limits.
The deceased has been identified as Swathi (16), a 10th standard student of Kateel PU College. She was returning with her neighbour Raviraj in a mobike after attending tuition classes on Tuesday morning when the mishap occurred.
Swathi, the school pupil leader, was a meritorious student. The lorry driver who fled the spot was found hiding in Arasara Padavu. He has been arrested with the help of localites.
