Udupi: Issue and ute Fatwas against Terrorists - N V Shashidhar

Udupi, Jan 15: A programme to pay tributes to the martyrs of Mumbai terrorist attack and late Lokesh commemorative Blood Donation Camp were held at Kaup on Tuesday January 13.

The event was jointly organized by the Junior Chamber International (JCI), Kaup, Marigudi temple and Kaup Government First Grade College, in association with Udupi district hospital and district blood donation centre.

Speaking on the occasion, N V Shashidhar, principal, Polipu Junior College, opined that religious celebrations and programmes must become the symbols of progress.

The' Jihad' as set out in Muslim religious scriptures is meant to spread peace in the world and is sacred. But, the Muslim fundamentalists who have twisted it to suit them, have made it profane by giving this name for their  terrorist activities. The religious leaders must implement Fatwa against such evil activists, he felt.

Santosh Kumar, deputy superintendent of police, Karkala sub-division, inaugurated the programme. Arun Shetty Padoor, president, Jaycee, Kaup, presided over the function. Rajesh Kunjoor, secretary, proposed vote of thanks.

Jaycee  Uday Kumar Shetty, director, Ratnakar Shetty Nadikere, Nalinchandra, officer, National Service Scheme (NSS), Dr Sharat Kumar, director, Blood Bank Government Hospital, Udupi and Gayatri Acharya, Jayceerette president, were present on the occasion.
