Mangalore, Jan 17: The rich culture of Tulunadu was showcased in the programmes presented at the ongoing Dakshina Kannada district Karavali Utsav at Mangala Stadium on Thursday January 15.
The history of Tulunadu including the story of Koti- Chennayya, was presented before the audience by Kalakumbha Samskrutika Vedike.
Small boys and girls gyrated to the tunes of the song written on 'Keddasa', a festival of Tulunadu by Dr Sunita Shetty.
Various occupations of Tulunadu were reflected through the songs written by Sitaram Kulal, on the platform. The background stage settings for various scenes of occupation like pottery, harvesting, collecting paddy, husking and hunting were shifted according to the moods of the songs. A play that laid stress on the power of Parashurama also entertained and educated large number of audience.
The song 'Berik Padd Dolu, Pattuda Kait Kolu', by a little girl succeeded in bringing the rural life before the eyes of the audience.
Apart from it, traditional art forms of the district like 'Yakshagana', 'Bhootaradhane' and 'Nagaseve' and also the life styles of Tulunadu people were presented in the form of plays and songs.
Later, Brahmarakootlu Team presented various programmes relating to Tulunadu culture on the occasion.
