Mangalore, Jan 19: The Convocation Day of Sridevi Physiotherapy College, Sridevi Nursing College and Sridevi School of Nursing was held at T V Raman Pai Hall in the city on Saturday January 17.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Hamsraj Alva, administrative director, Vinaya Nursing Home and Research centre, pointed out that patients are not customers as in business entities. Considering medical service as business will not serve the true purpose of the medical profession, he added.

A large number of people from the country move to foreign countries for pursuing medical profession there. However, they must understand that they are compelled to lead a life of second grade citizens in those countries, unlike India. The medical profession is growing fast in the country which is increasingly becoming economically stronger, as plenty of opportunities are available for them in India itself,  he said.

Presiding over the function, M R Vasudev, director, Mangalore Airport, said that the medical profession is the only profession that will survive as long as the human race exists. The doctors must not forget that the great work of saving life and instilling confidence and encouraging those who have lost hope in themselves is a noble task and those who selflessly engage themselves in this task will win recognition for their work sooner or later, he felt.

A Sadanand Shetty, president, Sridevi Education Foundation, Nidesh S Shetty, vice-president, Maina S Shetty, secretary, A Krishnamurty Shetty, administrator, S Padmakumar, principal, Sridevi Physiotheraphy College and Bibiyana Vijay, principal, Sridevi Nursing College, were present on the occasion.
