Udupi: Liquor Seized, Three Arrested

Udupi, Jan 19: On Sunday January 18, the excise department officials  working on a tip off, seized liquor being illegally smuggled into the state from Goa through  Netravati Express train.

The officials, waiting for the arrival of the train at Indrali railway station near here, arrested Abdul, Mohammed and Sanjeeva, who were carrying 157 litres of liquor from Goa. The total value of the liquor seized is said to be about Rs 40,000. The liquor was packed in 18 cardboard cases.

Under the direction of  excise commissioner K Bheemappa, excise deputy superintendent K Prashant Kumar, sub inspector K Vinod and other pesonnel participated in the operation.
