Puttur: MLA Mallika Prasad Warns Officials

Puttur, Jan 29: Puttur MLA Mallika Prasad took serious umbrage to the absence of a number of officials at the Karnataka Development Programme (KDP) meeting she chaired on Tuesday January 27 here, and asked the officials who are unable to attend this important programme, to resign and go home instead of exposing utter irresponsibility.

Prasad took to task the officials who took such meetings very lightly. She said she would recommend stern steps against the absentee officials. Taking exception to scores of complaints about the absence of doctors and for attending to the patients in several primary health centres, she advised the doctors not to shirk from their obligations to serve the needy during their duty hours. She also advised the taluk medical officer to take care to see that such complaints do not come up in future.

South Canara District Central Cooperative Bank director A Jeevan Bhandary urged for extending facilities of the department of agriculture, to even the extended areas of the town. It was decided to send a memorandum to the government on this issue.

The MLA also directed the zilla panchayat engineering department officials to inform the local peoples' representatives in advance, before rigging bore wells within their jurisdiction.

Taluk panchayat (TP) president Chanila Timmappa Shetty, standing committee chairman Seetaram Gowda Kodimbala, TP in-charge executive officer, Y Shivaramaiah were present.
