Udupi, Apr 1: A boy who left his house and boarded a train after he got angry that his mother did not give him a mobile phone, was safely handed over to his family by RPF personnel.

The boy, a student of ninth standard at Sonarkeri English medium school, Bhatkal used to pester his mother to buy a mobile for him. The mother had advised him to first study well. The boy who was angry because of that, left home, entered a train without informing anybody on March 29 and got down at Indrali railway station here.

When railway police inspector Santhosh Gaunkar and head constable Venu C H were inspecting incoming trains on March 30 in view of elections, saw the boy wandering suspiciously on the railway platform. When asked, he said that he has come to see his friend in the hospital. Police, who grew suspicious, took him to the police station and inquired when the boy confessed to the mobile episode.

The police contacted his school teachers and in turn informed his mother. The mother has lost her husband two years ago in an accident and is working on daily wages at present. She was devastated searching for her missing son for the last two days.

Though the mother was very happy when she got information that her son is found, she could not come immediately as her another son is too small. She informed about it to the police and came to Udupi on Sunday. Railways divisional manager Vinay Kumar and divisional public relations officer Sudha Krishnanamurthy were present.
