Udupi, Apr 8: Udupi BJP Yuva Morcha will organise ‘Chowkidar Cycle Jatha Campaign’on April 12th with an aim to re-elect Narendra Modi as India’s prime minister, said Udupi MLA Raghupati Bhat.

Addressing a press meet at the Udupi press club on Monday, he said the cycle campaign will begin at Gandhi Statue, Malpe and end at MGM Ground, Kunjibettu. Around 200 people have already registered their names and interested participants can come directly on the event day, he said.

Regarding ECI objection over ‘Mai Bhi Chowkidar Hoon’ sticker on vehicles, Bhat said “I do not know the reason for their objection. People should vote for Modi so that he becomes the prime minister again.”

Hitting back at Pramod Madhwaraj’s statement that BJP is asking vote for Modi instead of Shobha Karandlaje in the constituency, Bhat said Congress lacks courage to ask votes in name of Rahul Gandhi and JD(S) supremo HD Devegowda has become old. “But we are asking votes for Modi as he has brought about development. Let Congress speak on achievements of Rahul Gandhi,” he ridiculed.

Raghupati Bhat also took at dig at CM Kumaraswamy’s old statement that, ‘Coastal people are not brilliant’. “After two months the CM realized that coastal people are brilliant. But CM has completely neglected the coastal region,” he lashed out.

“The all leaders meeting was called at Karkala on Sunday and the CM interacted with the leaders and made many promises. Now CM is ready to do anything to satisfy the public and he is campaigning in that spirit. He should have given these promises before the budget,” he said.

The government will fall within 24 hours of the Lok Sabha election result. The allied government also knows this, Bhat expressed confidence.

“Congress stood behind the Operation Lotus. Now it is planning to defeat all the candidates. Leaders in the Mahagatbandhan are already in the fold of corruption. No desires will get fulfilled through this Mahaghatbandhan,” he said.

Bhat also questioned, Why CM could not find time to meet the fishermen family? “The CM had time to visit Pramod Madhwaraj house at Kolalagiri but could not visit the fishermen family just 1 km away from Santhekatte. Union minister met the aggrieved family members three times and shared their grief. But as CM of Karnataka, he did not have the courtesy of meeting them. HDK had time to go to Pramod’s home but not to the homes of the grief stricken family members of the fishermen. His visit would have brought confidence in them. Atleast he could have arranged a meeting with them in Udupi. This shows the sincerity of CM and Pramod Madhwaraj,” he said.

He also pointed out that the state leaders failed to hold a meeting with Navy forces to get information about the missing boat. They should have done this, he said.

Bhat blamed Madhwaraj as the reason behind the sand mining ban and suffering of people in the district. “Madhwaraj wishes that people in Udupi should not get sand. There is lack of political will power to settle the issue,” he said.

Commenting against Pramod on sand issue, “people definitely will get sand in one month inspite of Pramod not being elected as the MP. The Union government has given a clear guideline. State government has also fixed guidelines. Our demand was to approve permits for all 171 license holders and allow them to extract 7.80 metric tons of sand. A seven member committee has to call a meeting and lease distribution process is pending. We have already spoken regarding this. Election Commission has formed a screening committee to settle emergency issues. We were keep following this issue and looking for the screening committee’s answer. Now there is no such problem to get permission,” he said.

Yashpal Suvarna, Praveen Kappettu, Mahesh Takur, in-charges of the bicycle campaign, Prabhakar Poojary, district BJP president and others were present.
