Mangalore, Apr 10: Thursday April 9 was the last day for filing of nominations by the aspiring Lok Sabha candidates for Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency. Seven people filed their nominations on the last day here.
Janardhan Poojary from the congress, K Monappa Bhandary and Nalin Kumar Kateel from the BJP, Madhava B from CPI (M), Girish A Rai from the BSP, C Ahmed Jamal from the Indian Union Muslim League, independents Supreet Kumar Poojary, Vasudev M P, Dr Tirumala Raya Halemane, G Mohammed, K Rama Bhat Urimajal, Abdul Razack, Anand Gatty, Mohammed Ashraf, Subrahmanya Kumar Kuntikan and Dr U P Shivanand are in the fray.
Janardhan Poojary and Nalin Kumar Kateel have submitted four sets of nominations each while K Rama Bhat, Madhava B and Dr U P Shivananand have filed two sets each. A total of 27 sets of nomination papers have been filed. As of now, 12 independents are in the fray.
The nominations will be scrutinized on Saturday April 11. April 13 will be the last date for the withdrawal of nominations.
In Udupi, a total of 12 people have filed their nominations.
