Beltangady, Apr 13: Chitravati (21), working as teacher in a private school near here, committed suicide in front of the house of her relative Sridhar from Karyartadka, whom she was loving, on Sunday April 12 evening, through self-immolation after sprinkling petrol on herself.
Chitravati, daughter of Chowkara from Mundoorpalike in Kokkada village, who was in love with Sridhar, was reportedly mentally disturbed after his marriage was fixed with another girl.
She was immediately taken to Wenlock Hospital Mangalore for treatment, but could not be revived. Chitravati had recently passed D Ed examination in first class and was working in a private school in the taluk as teacher.
