Udupi: Would-be Bridegroom Crushed under Train

Udupi, Apr 14: Sunil Putran (32), son of the late Raghav Karkera, resident of Jalaja Nivas Hejmady near Padubidri, died after being crushed under the wheels of Mumbai-bound Matsyagandha Express on Monday April 13.

Sunil, working for a Purse Seine boat in Malpe, was to marry on May 7. He had recently built a house in Hejmady by raising loan. He was returning after distributing invitations of his marriage when tragedy struck.

Sunil is survived by mother and four sisters. On a complaint filed by Hejmady gram panchyat ex-president Sudhakar Karkera, Padubidri police have registered a case.

    Sad to hear of  the death of a young bridegroom who is the only son and brother of 4 sisters. Sometimes wonder why these things  happen to the hardworking, ambitious poor youngsters. May his soul rest in peace. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved memebers of the family.
