Sakleshpur: Konkani Utsav at Our Lady of Mercy Parish Grounds on Apr 16

Sakleshpur, Apr 15: Konkani Utsav, a programme resplendent with Mangalorean tradition and culture, will be held from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm on Thursday April 16 at Our Lady of Mercy parish grounds here.  It is being jointly organized by Catholic Konkani Rakonn Sanchalan units of Sundekere and Sakleshpur parishes, in order to preserve Konkani, its tradition and culture among the minority Konkans in the Malnad region here.
 
The convoy of head-load offerings was led in a procession at 9.00 am on Thursday April 15 from Hotel Ashritha here.  It will reach Our Lady of Mercy parish grounds here, at around 10.00 am, where it will be ceremoniously received by the parish priest. 
 
The Eucharistic will be offered at 11.00 am. The programme of felicitating veterans will be held at 12.30 pm.  The auctioning of head-load offerings will take place at 1.00 pm.  The traditional Mangalorean food will be served at 1.30 pm.
 
As part of the entertainment programmes, 'Bokro Saiba Bokro' Konkani play by popular playwright Claud D’Souza, will be staged at 2.15 pm on Thursday.  Me Mo Ri comedy troupe led by Dolla Manglur will entertain the gathering with popular Konkani comedies and jokes.  The programme will conclude at 5.00 pm.
