Sullia: 'What has Congress Done for State?'

Daijiworld Media Network - Sullia (SP)

Sullia, Apr 15: Zilla panchayat member and media committee head of Sullia BJP Venkat Dambekody challenged the Congress to place before the people its contributions for the state.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday April 14, Dambekody accused the Congress of trying to project programmes the NDA government had implemented, as its own. "When Vajpayee was the Prime Minister, he envisaged 'Grama Sadak' scheme. If he so wished, he would have named this scheme after himself. But, the NDA government chose not to christen the schemes it implemented after its leaders like the 'Rajiv Gandhi Drinking Water scheme', 'Rajiv Gandhi Electrification Scheme', Jawahar Rozgar Scheme, 'Indira Awaz' etc., Naming schemes after the leaders of specific political parties tantamount to misuse of power, he charged.

"The party has not felt the presence of pro-Rama Bhat wave anywhere, with many of Bhat's followers questioning his decision to fight the election. He said, Anna Vinayachandra had distanced himself from party activities since long and the BJP will not have any adverse affects of activities of such leaders," said BJP local committee president A V Theertaram.

MLA S Angara, party leaders S N Manmatha, Jayprakash Rai, Sudhakar Kamat and several other leaders were present at the press conference.

What is the contribution of Congress for the state of Karnataka? Good and relevant question ahead of Loksabha elections. But when compared to BJP's contribution for the state of Karnataka-church attacks, pub attack, attacks on juice parlours, mosque attacks, and too many more to be named here- the contribution of Congress is mighty little!
