Mangalore: Rickshaw Driver Murder Attempt - Four Arrested

Mangalore, Apr 16: Relating to the murder attempt on rickshaw driver Victor D'Cunha (35) near Milagres in the city on the night of Wednesday April 8, the policemen have arrested Nikit (24), Ravish (24), Satish Panjimogeru and Lokit (23). Search is on for a few more culprits allegedly involved with the crime.

The policemen said, that during the questioning, the accused said the murder attempt was a fall out of an argument on rickshaw fare. When D'Cunha was waiting for passengers at the Milagres rickshaw park at around 8.15 pm, a gang of unidentified people had pulled him out of the rickshaw and beaten him up. One of the gang members had stabbed the back of Victor. All the arrested are residents of the city.

The accused revealed, the said rickshaw driver had demanded double the normal fare a week back, when they had wanted to hire his rickshaw go to Shaktinagar at around 8.30 pm. The argument aggravated into serious disagreement, resulting in violent retaliation. Satish had stabbed D'Cunha during the assault, the policemen said.

All the accused have been remanded to judicial custody till April 29.  Victor D'Cunha, residing in a rented house in Kottara, is recovering in a private hospital here.

    Mr Shahanawaz, please note that government is collecting lot of revenue from temples thru endowment board and from that a partial amount is spent back on temples and equally they distribute money to other religion holy places as well.

    But govt dont get any revenue from neither churches nor mosques and either these holy places coming under the scrutiny of endowment. So let us be careful while giving comments without knowing the back grounds.

    Rama- infact all these youths are uneducated / uncultured and can be hired/used by any party, you name it SRS/BD/BJP/Congress/JD...etc etc.. These are the results coming out due to the policies of our local Govt in Karnataka !
