SSC

Mysore, Apr 16: A website which made effective use of information technology and was able to put all information on the internet during the last Assembly elections has gone one step ahead in the present Lok Sabha elections. It has now put up all relevant election-related rules on the site.

A two-volume 'Manual of Election Law,' that includes all election-related Acts and Rules, has been put up on the website and is available in both Hindi and English.

What are the rules and regulations to be followed by a candidate who is contesting the elections, what are the laws under which he should obtain permission for giving advertisements or to go in procession or hold election campaigns, have all been described here. The various sections that define the model codes of conduct to be followed by the Returning Officers and Polling Agents have been explained in detail.

In addition to this, election- related judgements given by the Courts are also available on the website. The various judgements given by the Supreme Court, Election Commission, State Government and the details of petitions submitted by the candidates and the judgements they received are all available under 'The Landmark Judgements' covering four volumes.

If one does not have patience to go through all these details, then there is a 'Compendium of Instructions on Conduct of Elections' in four volumes. By clicking on it, one can get comprehensive information about the elections.

In addition to these, there are various handbooks like the Handbook for Returning Officers (updated 2009), Handbook for Counting Agents, Handbook for Polling Agents, Handbook for Returning Officers (for Council Elections), Handbook for Presiding Officers (updated 2009), Handbook for Candidates (updated 2009), Handbook for Electoral Registration Officers (updated 2008), The Presidential and Vice-Presidential Elections Act, 1952 and Political Party And Election Symbol. All these can be assessed on the same window.

All these information can be assessed if one visits www.mysoreelections.com and clicks on 'Election Laws.' All laws related to elections is available here, covering about 1000 pages.

Apart from the Central Election Commission, this is the first website in the country to put up all rules related to elections.

"Though all other States have created election-related websites they are limited to their own State. But this website, in order to provide comprehensive information to all corners of the nation, has collected all the rules from the Election Commission and has been displaying it on the site," said Sanjay of the 'Software Guru' company which has taken up the responsibility of technical maintenance of the website.
