Udupi: Show-cause Notices Served on Six Candidates

Udupi, Apr 18: The Returning Officer on Friday served show-cause notices on six candidates contesting the election for the Udupi-Chikmagalur parliamentary constituency for not submitting their expenditure accounts.

In a press release issued here, Deputy Commissioner P. Hemalatha, who is the Returning Officer, said that the contestants had been asked to submit their expenditure accounts on April 17 scrutiny by the Election Observers.

However, they had not reported their expenditure to the officers. The six contestants are: Steven John Menezes of Bahujan Samaj Party; Umesh Kumar; K. Ganapati Shettigar; Vinayak Mallya; Sridhar Udupa; and Srinivas Poojary (all independents). The matter would be reported to the Election Commission, the release said.
