Mangalore, May 11: The book release function of 'Chelaruguttu Manjannaiger', authored by Indira Hegde was held at Chelaruguttu Chavadi on Sunday May 10.

The event was jointly organized by Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy and Chelaruguttu Agoli Manjanna Trust.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr B A Vivek Rai, Manasa Gangotri State Open University, Mysore, said that conducting the study on Agoli Manjanna, Koti Chennayya and Koraga Thaniya must not be restricted to just the castes to which they belonged, but it is necessary to highlight their great personalities.

Chelaruguttu, where historical person Agoli Manjanna grew up, must be developed as a tourism spot. There have been many great personalities from Tulunadu, about them we find nothing in written format. Research should be conducted on these forgotten heroes, he felt.

Dr Paltady Ramakrishna Achar, Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy president, presided over the function.

Swamy Brahmananda, Chinmaya Mission, Bangalore released the book 'Chelaruguttu Manjannaiger' on the occasion.

Harikrishna Punaroor, Kannada Sahitya Parishat former president and Ajit Kumar Rai Malady, Buntara Sangha president, congratulated the Hegde for her achievement.

Author Indira Hegde delivered a lecture on 'Guttuled Gadi'. Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli, Tulu Sahitya Academy member convener, compered the programme. Diwakar Samani Chelaruguttu proposed vote of thanks.

S R Hegde, Chelaruguttu Agoli Manjanna Trust secretary, was present.
