Mangalore: Gang Trying to Meddle with Law and Order Situation Nabbed

Mangalore, May 16: The policemen of Dakshina Kannada district criminal intelligence bureau have successfully unearthed a conspiracy being hatched to create law and order problem in the district at the time of counting of Lok Sabha election votes. District superintendent of police(SP) Dr Subrahmanyeshwar Rao informed, that Vasant (28), Madhusudan (24), Rakesh (22), Sharat (21), Vishwanath (22) and Ganesh (26) from Gurpur, who wanted to create tensions in the district by killing a resident of Gurpur, were arrested by the policemen. He was addressing a press conference held here on Friday May 15.

The SP said, the police personnel who gathered secret information about the conspiracy, carefully followed the leads. After the policemen arrested Vasant from Gurpur and questioned him, he spilled the beans, based on which the other five were arrested. "If the arrests were not made, perhaps the law and order situation in the district would have been thrown out of gear by the conspirators either at the time of declaration of results or after a couple of days thereafter," he explained.

About the murder attempt of Suvratraj, a leader of Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarti Parishat, the SP said investigation is on and that a man named Imtiaz has been arrested. To ensure that no untoward incidents take place at the time of counting and declaration of results, tight security has been put in place, Rao said.
