K'pur: Connivance with Burglary - Bank President Demands Suspension of Govt Official

Kundapur, May 16: Kambadakone Farmers Service Cooperative Bank president S Prakashchandra Shetty has urged the deputy commissioner of the district and the chief executive officer of the zilla panchayat, to immediately suspend J C Nayak, an official of the irrigation department here, for his involvement with a huge robbery, one of the biggest in the region, that took place at the Bank’s Bijoor branch recently. It may be recalled, that Nayak's brother is accused with masterminding the theft involving over Rs 1.5 crore.

He said, records are available to prove that the said government official had a hand in the said robbery. So, the concerned should take action against him immediately, he demanded at a press conference held here on Friday May 15.

Shetty heaped praises on the police department for cracking the case within two weeks. He informed that a citation and reward of one lac rupees would be handed over to Chandrashekhar Naik, assistant sub inspector of Kumta, at a parade being held in Udupi later that day.  He urged the directors of cooperative department to prevail upon cooperative banks to streamline their security arrangements, in the light of the above robbery.

Several persons including bank executive director Pundalik Nayak, supervisor Shivaram Yadtare, manager Havali Billava were present at the press conference.
