Mangalore: Much-awaited Rain brings Relief to Twin-districts

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, May 18: Several places of Sullia taluk received torrential rain on Sunday evening. Several trees were uprooted in Sampaje due to the speeding wind and rain. Some trees also fell across the state highway, bringing  down with them, electric poles. Traffic was thrown out of gear on the state highway between Bantwal and Mysore as a result.

Napoklu, Siddapur and most of the other areas in Kodagu district got good rain on Sunday evening. The city too received good rain on Sunday night, like almost all the places in the twin-districts.

However, the rainfall in places other than Sullia region was not on the expected levels, as the people, reeling under immense heat, were expecting heavy rains, as Bangalore and Chennai have of late, been receiving good rains.

The rain has brought some relief however, to the natives of the district in general and people from other places who have come here to attend various ceremonies and on pilgrimage.
